The American director lands her first feature.
After weeks of speculation, Michelle MacLaren has been confirmed as director of the first solo Wonder Woman fim for Warner Bros. and DC.
Having amassed a prolific career producing and directing episodes for TV shows ranging from Breaking Bad (2008-2013), The Walking Dead (2010 – present) and Game of Thrones (2011 – present), MacLaren will be making her feature filmmaking debut with a project that’s been rumoured for quite a while.
It’s expected that Wonder Woman will act as an origin story for the Amazonian warrior after being introduced in Zack Snyder’s upcoming superhero mashup Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) and also a prelude to the two-part Justice League outing. Gal Gadot, who is currently filming on the set of Dawn of Justice, will continue in the role.
Wonder Woman is due for release in 2017.
